Snapshots of Health: Engaging Communities with Western Health

Client: Western Public Health Unit (WPHU)

 Overview:

The Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) focuses on disease prevention, health promotion, and protecting communities in Victoria from health threats. To visually support their Population Health Catchment Plan, WPHU needed a photography campaign that captured the essence of their diverse regions and promoted community engagement with health initiatives.

 Objectives:

The campaign aimed to showcase locals across six Victorian councils—Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Melton, Merri-bek, Moonee Valley, and Wyndham—actively engaging with their environments, highlighting the beauty and vitality of each area.

 Execution and Deliverables:

⁃       Corporate Photography: Over two days, we captured key landmarks and community interactions, creating a visual story aligned with WPHU’s mission.

⁃       Visual Assets for Public Health Messaging: The images were integrated into WPHU’s Population Health Catchment Plan and used across social media to enhance public engagement and awareness.

Impact:

The photography campaign effectively highlighted community participation and environmental engagement, enhancing the relatability of WPHU’s public health initiatives. The visuals have been widely appreciated, increasing awareness and support for WPHU’s goals, such as promoting healthier lifestyles and addressing environmental health impacts.

This project demonstrated the power of photography in public health, creating a strong visual narrative that connects communities with WPHU’s health objectives.
